While we didnt ride up to Vegas, we took Russ's soooper dooper sekrit spy road and got to see the sun set in the Mojave as we turned away from Death Valley and on the way to Pahrumpf. (sp?) The funny part about this is that I had vague directions from Russ, and a crappy map from the Baker resturant -- their table setting, in fact, and found my way to Pahrumf via some back roads that while it took us a little longer and added about 40 miles, made the rest of the trip well worth it! at least no traffic as on the 15! A friend of mine has a time share in Vegas at the Hilton Resorts, so I got to spend time in a room with a BIG jacuzzi bathub and a 32" tv screen. Is it horrible that I spent friday night lounging in the tub, watching Trek?!? (Drinking milk and cookies, baby! I'm a party animal!) Saturday, I finally got to go see the Star Trek Experience which is supposedly going away, and spent wayyyy too much money on funny fizzy drinks at Quark's Bar... (oh, and had another bath in the afternoon, this time with almond oil, chocolate chip cookies, and Junkyard Wars...) Later in the evening, we went to see "La Cage" and drooled over the "girls" in the outfits. :-) "I'm one of the girls that's one of the boys!" and since we have front row seats, got to wave and laugh with the singers... Sunday, BIG breakfast at the RIO, followed by HOURS at the Venetian.... bikes _everywhere_. The video spotlighting motorcycles thru movie history was awesome too, as were the pics of the different movie stars and racers. It was great seeing how motorcycles evolved, from steam engines, to combustion engines, open valves, board track singles, to some of them that were waaay ahead of their time, to awesome looking classics -- the little Honda scooters made me laugh, as you could just SEE "You meet the nicest people on a honda" and the tall huge picture of Anne Margaret. Ducati 750SS. Vincent Black Shadow. the UJM (Honda CB7504). Funny thing was how many bikes that Squidboy owned were in this collection -- his first dirtbike was a '71 Penton, and they had a '72 there. His first new streetbike was a '84 Interceptor, and while his was blue, there was a red one in the show... the bike he regretted not buying -- Harley's cafe bike, also in the show... awesome fun! Drive home was great too, until we hit Barstow, and all that traffic. ewwwwwww. But I did have Strawberry Pie at the Baker Thermometer...
