(Holy crap! hope Ingrid gets better soon!) Blas's comment brings back to mind the accident I had the distinct displeasure of witnessing on the way out of LG on Sunday. HUGE mess of people trying to get out and for some reason, the traffic clears ahead. A bunch of bikes are splitting by the cages on the right side, but this one bimota (I think) along with his buddies all pull out in front of me into the pack of cages and bikes. the Bimota decides that he's done trying to filter with the rest of us, pulls out into the oncoming lane and starts to accellerate. just as I think, "Boy, this is a bad idea." one of the SUV's in the line ahead suddenly pulls out. (Squidboy and PEter are ahead of me, having gotten ahead of the whole debacle earlier....) the guy sees BIG ass suv, freaks and tries to brake (He's already in third gear, btw) and either throws the bike down, or fucks up and drops it. He and the bike flip around, and he ends up UNDER the SUV (who's still moving, having no idea there was a bike coming.) SUV then runs over person, or starts dragging him along, still having NO idea what's going on. the rider is pounding on the vehicle as he's caught under a rear wheel. Bike finally hits the SUV. SUV stops. I try not to get sick in my helmet. Figuring the police really dont want MY version of the story, ("Yea, the cage pulled out with no signal, but the biker was an idiot too.') plus as his friends are piling around, I succeed in controlling my gag reflex and desire to barf into my helmet and follow Squidboy and PEter out. Nothing more ill sounding then bike and person hitting the ground like that. 30 seconds of patience, and filtering with the rest of us, he would have had clear road...
