Subject: my neck hurts, or how I coulda really wrecked my day... Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 15:58:23 -0500 To: nedod@nedod.org Huckleberry has been giving me nasty looks for merely riding him on the highway to work and class recently. Fortunately, his brakes saved my sorry ass today on my way to work. I jumped into the fast lane hoping to hop into the carpool lane and zoom along to work, and got too close to the SUV in front. No biggie, will let SUV get a little ahead, when 4 cars ahead, I see a white tourino swerve INTO the carpool lane, brakes locked up. SUV in front swerves to the right as other cars in front are locking up their brakes. Fortunately for me, my fingers worked faster then my brain and I was already hard on the binders slowing myself down. Unfortunately for me, the SUV's brakes seemed to be better (at least he didn't hit the guy in front) and I was coming perilously closer to smacking into his rear. Quick headcheck to the left to see NO traffic in car pool lane, off binders, swerve, back on binders and stop about a foot past SUV 's bumper. ow. My neck hurts now. (that fast headcheck. ow.) I never did find out why the Tourino had to swerve. (mistake was actually stopping once I swerved, I think -- at that point, I should have kept going and gotten up to and past the Stupidity...)
