lemme just say, WOW! what a weekend! Thanks to Victoria, for convincing me (ok, the arm twisting wasnt very hard) to play hooky on Friday and come up. It was great to get to hang with Scott Fabbro and WSMC OM Kenny Kopecky -- big thanks to you both for letting us hide in the shade up by the annoucing tower. I go to stand next to my _hero_, Doug Chandler, while his Kawi team was jumping over the gold pit wall to fix his suspension (boy, that's a BIG wrench!) and maybe EBoz remembers me from teasing him at Fastrack (probably not). And we ate dinner sitting next to Nicky Hayden (hiding unsuccessfully under his red honda hat) and Roger Lee... I can't believe how exciting it was listening to the annoucements that Steve Rapp may have beat GoShow's record and how disappointed I was when it was found that he was 3/10ths of a second too slow. :( OH! And King Kenny was there, hanging with Gary Nixon (who I also saw at Zuma's for dinner), as well as KRJR. damn. I would have liked to have met/seen both KR's... Victoria is the BOMB to hang with (not just 'cause she's so cool like buttah doesnt melt on her cool) -- first -- she's the Pit Wench for Jason Dave (250 gp racer who took New Racer school with me) when he pulls into the pits during the 250 practice and begs for assistance over the Gold Pit Wall... Then -- come on, hanging with a good looking ducati riding babe has its advantages, especially in the giggles department. Friday, she and I are heading to our hotels after qualifying. Some drunk comes by and asks her, "Is that your bike?" and then spends the rest of the time we're getting ready to go alternatively going, 'YOu're so COOL!" to , "You must think you are so cool, huh? I wish I were a girl and could be so cool like you," (In a really angry drunk tone of voice...) Then, Squidboy, Victoria and I are riding our bikes up from turn 1 to turn 4 on Saturday. There she is, no helmet, riding that sexy red bike, and the number of whiplash victims growing by the instant... Funny was the one guy who's girlfriend smacked him *hard* for drooling and staring, funnier was the girlfriend who YELLED over my head, "QUIT THAT, you SLOB!" and ran over to him... (really, I havent seen a 750 Monster before!) Well, i dont want to spoil the races, but I cant _wait_ to see the 600SS race on TV. :) John Marvin might be thin skinned, but boy, that guy is sweet on a SuperBike. And I have to say, Ducati's sound far better then do VR1000s or Buells (in superbike and ProThunder) It was really nice to be able to wander around and look at the bikes and talk to lots of people that I know... It was great seeing Mark Palazzo doing so well on his R1 in Formula Extreme (and so many clubracers names up in the top 10!) and definately fun to talk to Jason Dave as he was putting his 250 back together... I can't wait to get out there in two weeks. ;-) I think I've gotten the line figured out in turn 4. Now just to make sure I dont do what Ben Bostrum did...
