I had a few this weekend... One was taking a Boston friend of mine up the Crest to Newcomb's Ranch. The ride itself wasnt very eventful or even memorable, except for having a passenger on the back, but the moment was being up there... A bunch of us are sitting around eating fries and talking -- when I saw an older gentleman leading a younger man by the hand. The younger man was quite obviously 'developmentally disabled' both physically and mentally. I saw the older man take him by the hand and lead him inside (probably to the restroom) and come out -- he was looking at the different bikes and looked to be quite happy. But the moment came when the other gentleman opened up the bags on his GoldWing and took out two Tourmaster suits. I missed seeing the younger man get dressed, but I didnt miss him jumping on the back of the bike with a HUGE angelic smile on his face in his 3/4ths helmet. (See, it hadnt ocurred to me they'd come up on a BIKE.) I wish I had a camera. I'd have loved to have caught that smile, in that moment in the sun on a perfect sunday afternoon -- that guy on the back caught what it was about motorcycles and what it was about riding that's just perfect. (It reminded me of something Derek had posted here about a relative of his...and I had to run into the bathroom to avoid letting the others see me cry.) I hope I see 'em up there again -- I'm going to walk up and introduce myself and thank them both for making my day.
