To: nedod@linus.mitre.org Subject: an evening spin.. Date: Fri, 09 Jun 2000 17:30:15 -0400 From: gayathri well, Mizz Minimoto and I didnt do a Cafe Ride, since we never stopped for coffee, but we did meet yesterday at about 5:30 head up the crest for a quick 50 mile run... (on our motorcycles, sheesh. :) Meg's a lot of fun to ride with -- she's smooth and predictible (and looks so cute on that pretty blue bike to boot...) and I enjoyed getting an opportunity to practice... The weather was _perfect_ at the base, tho it got fairly chilly by the time we hit the Angeles Forest turn off. Only in LoCalSoCal would I end up needing my damn electrics in _june_. It was in the lo 60's about 4000 feet up! There's something so lovely about those mountains crowned in clouds with the sky such a perfect blue, and the air is kinda crisp and clean -- it smells like a New England fall day, but with the added bonus of real mountains... (and no smoke). Don't bother trying to stay at the 45 mph speedimit during the Palmdale 500 (cages going home via the Crest from LA to Palmdale). I had one guy pass me and Meg near the firestation, only he passes her and then hangs back and passes me AFTER the passing lane was completed, forcing me almost off the road. (Hey, I think I figured how squidboy rides with no hands *gives driver the finger*). the rest of the ride was uneventful, 'cause we just pulled over for the idiot drivers. I think if we left a little later (like 6:30), we'd be better off. Crest to Palmdale turnoff to LowerTujunga, turn around in Sunland, and head back around... not bad, and a quick ride with a fun companion. I think we may do this more often. :) Gayathri >-------------------------------------------------------------- gayathri@world.std.com Calamari Club #002, WSMC #158 '88 FZR400 ('gurlzbike') '98 T595 Daytona, "huckleberry" "Desire is half of life; indifference is half of death." - Kahlil Gibran
