August 19, 1997

Dear Friends and Family,

With very full and tender hearts, Evan & Annamarie Ross Shu would like to announce
the births on August 18, 1997 at 11:08 p.m. of their triplets:

			Amanda Grace
			Melanie Hope &
			Noah Bernard Evan

With great sadness, we mourn the death of Noah Bernard Evan, a soul we knew to be a
lover of music. He died shortly after birth due to extreme prematurity. However,
despite their surprise arrival two months early, both Amanda Grace and Melanie Hope
cling tenaciously to life, and they are receiving the best of care at the Mass.
General Hospital in Boston. Mother Annamarie came through the delivery fine and is
resting comfortably.

Please forgive our reticence as we will not be able to receive your calls and visits
for a brief period of time as we will need to re-gather our hearts and minds for the
moment. Please know in advance that we appreciate all of your prayers and expressions
of support, joy and sadness as we go through this transition to our new lives.

In appreciation for all your love and support,

Dear Family and Friends,

With great sadness, we must tell you about the passing of our daughter, Melanie Hope
Shu, last night at about 7 p.m. Even though her life was an all too brief 13 days, we
felt that we had come to know her spunky, active spirit and could already imagine
what a wonderful young girl she would become. Unfortunately in the past several days,
the succession of heart surgery, the installation of an arterial catheter, the onset
of a bacterial infection, and finally the collapse of her left lung, eventually
proved too much for her tiny body which even her brave spirit could not overcome.
When the end was near, she did manage to hang on until the arrival of Rev. Crawford
who baptized her as she lay in her mother's arms before finally succumbing and
joining her brother Noah.

Our hopes remain strong for Amanda Grace, who for now appears to be making steady
progress but the road remains long and uphill for her as well, so we continue to ask
for your prayers on her behalf and our behalf.

We remember with gratitude the joy, love, and hope that our Melanie gave us during
her brief stay with us. In lieu of any flowers you may wish to send, we ask that you
make contributions in her memory or to Noah's memory to Old South Church, 645 Boylston St.,
Boston, MA 02116 (617)536-1970.

Thank you so much for all your expressions of love and support,

For Melanie, our hope:
.... suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character
produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured
into our hearts. Romans 5:3-5
