Introducing

The Rev. Dr. Carl F. Schultz, Jr.
Interim Senior Minister

The Transition Committee is very pleased to announce that at the special
meeting held on August 15th, 2002, Council voted to call Rev. Dr. Carl F. Schultz, Jr.
as Interim Minister of Old South Church.

Rev. Schultz recently retired from 34 years as Senior Minister of the First
Church of Christ in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Carl is a graduate of Tufts
University, Andover Newton, and Hartford Seminary. He served as minister in
Plymouth, NH and Auburn, MA before moving to Glastonbury in 1968.

Rev. Schultz has served as guest Chaplain in the United States Senate,
initiated interfaith ministry with Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches in
Glastonbury, overseen relationships and outreach initiatives with inner city
churches in Hartford, and recently had a book of his sermons published
entitled "Faith Faces Forward".

Carl and his wife Della have three grown children and 10 grandchildren.  They
are currently looking for rental housing near Old South.

We are thankful to have Carl and Della with us as we enter our interim period,
and we look forward to walking with them in the path of Jesus Christ as we all
move into the future together.

The Transition Committee wishes to thank everyone who has supported and
assisted our work over the past six months, including all of our Old South
"staff" with whom we are also blessed.

Carl's first Sunday at Old South will be on our opening Sunday, September
15th. [Tentatively scheduled at this time.] We look forward to hearing his
first sermon with us at that time.

Russell Gregg (Chair), Ely Pierce, Aaron McPherson, John Weingartner,
Doreen Siddall, Pam Roberts, David Vogan
