Let me introduce to you my NEW BABY BROTHER!
. . .
He was born at 10:22 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 1999 -- "only" 5 weeks early but still a robust 6 lbs. 5 oz! He and Momma (after 26 hours of labor, she's tired!) are doing fine at Mass. General Hospital and they should be home on Tuesday. My Grandma Ruby just came in today (Sat.) to help my mom and dad for awhile. They all seem to be worried about how I will take to my new brother -- he's "okay", but Dad, . . .
will you please get him his own web page!

Amanda's Winter Into Spring '99 Update
![]() Me & Mom w/Sibling to come | ![]() My Dad used to watch TV this way too! |
Early '99 Update: I have to apologize for my "da-dee" because he has been very bad about keeping my website up-to-date lately. He "claims" that there is no time left over between work and taking care of me, even though I am often happy to watch Sesame Street and Barney on his office TV while he works. "Ma-ma" continues to do well on her January "rest" month (Feb. is back to the social work grind) as my future brother or sister is now well past the point that I was born at (25 weeks), so my parents are resting a little easier that this sibling will have a more gentle introduction to this world than I had. (Hopefully around Patriots/Marathon Day in mid-April.)
| Meanwhile, my vocab is just exploding these days -- now up to 30 words and counting new ones every day. Last night, I pointed out a "star" in my bedtime book and Mom started to say -- "there's no star there . . . oh, you're right, there is a star in the pattern of that pillow!" And last week, Dad hid my favorite book under a pillow and said, "Where is your 3 Kittens book?" and so I hunted around until I found it under the pillow and held it out to him "READ!", so of course he had to. I've also turned into a great little eater, especially when I get something I like. My parents have given up trying to feed me as I want to do it all myself. I've started using a cup and spoon but it gets a little messy at times. (Don't tell them that I do it on purpose so I can then have more fun in the tub!) |

In mid-January, four nice women from the "Early Intervention Team" came to visit me and gave me a lot of fun tests and they were pretty impressed that I could things like put a coin into a piggy bank and stack blocks. They said that in almost all areas, I have caught up with my age group and may even be ahead in the verbal/thinking area. The only area I am behind in is in walking but I am practising hard on my cruisin' skills (around the couch and coffee table) so I'm going to catch up there soon too!
I also had a great Christmas and got lots of fun presents and "Preetee" clothes as you can see from the pictures. |
