present their 3D solutions for a greenhouse design problem on their campus.
Moderator: Manny Snyderman, President of Snyderman Associates, Inc. Milford, MA

Several students will each be making a 2 minute presentation on their design solution for the greenhouse project.
The students have modeled their designs in Datacad. The attending DBUG members will be the jury pool
and get to ask questions of the presenters about their designs.
All jury members will vote for their favorite design and a presentation. Awards will be presented after the break.

This has been the fourth full semester of exposing graduating seniors and juniors
to the world of DataCAD and the art of architecture. Manny and Tech Ed. teacher Tom Rosa
have developed a ‘work in progress’ course curriculum. The student’s with a Zero Knowledge Base
level understanding of architecture and CAD are taken
thru the graphic interface of the software, learn 2D drafting techniques,
and gain proficiency in 3D modeling with DataCAD.
Students have been exposed to basic residential construction drawings
and basic 3D modeling exercises during this short four month period.

PART THREE: Polylines:
They’re not just for hatching anymore!
Presenter: Manny Snyderman,
President of Snyderman Associates, Inc. Milford, MA

Manny will demonstrate and discuss the application of DataCAD’s use of polylines as they relate in 2D as well as 3D.
2D polylines are used most commonly for hatching. Creating voids for hatching will be discussed and demonstrated.
3D covered polylines offer opportunities to model complex shapes.
These covered polylines can then be self xref’d and/or xref’d into separate files
to allow further view dependant applications for modeling.
If you can draw it in 2D then you can model it in 3D and Manny will show you how.

Note: AIA Members & Massachusetts Registered Architects can earn
3 CEU credits for attending.
