LESSON ONE: One Year Later! Teaching DataCAD in the High School classroom setting.
Manny Snyderman, President of Snyderman Associates, Inc.
It has been one full semester of exposing graduating seniors and juniors to the world of DataCAD and the art of architecture. Manny and Tech Ed. teacher Tom Rosa have developed a ‘work in progress’ course curriculum. The student’s with a Zero Knowledge Base level understanding of architecture and CAD are taken thru the graphic interface of the software, learn 2D drafting techniques, and gain proficiency in 3D modeling with DataCAD. Students have been exposed to basic residential construction drawings and basic 3D modeling exercises during this short four month period. Their work will be on display at their individual work stations for all attendees to review. If you want to meet some great young dbuggers and are looking for summer interns, bring your business cards.
These kids are ready to go!

LESSON TWO: Archicad & Simulation Modeling for Healthcare.
Mark Sullivan, AIA, of Mark Sullivan Architects
& Susan O’Hara, RN, of O’Hara Healthcare Consultants,
will present an overview of the unique approach to design services that they have been providing to healthcare clients using Archicad CAD software by Graphisoft and Extend simulation modeling software from Imagine That, Inc.  Sullivan and O’Hara believe that Computer Simulation Modeling and Data Management can provide any healthcare facility with the ability to pretest design alternatives early in the design process.  Simulation Modeling can be deployed on an individual department or specific facility basis, as well as system wide.  These cutting edge tools can also provide beneficial insight into current operations that can uncover opportunities for improvement resulting in bottom line revenue increases and market growth strategies.

LESSON THREE: DataCAD 12: Design, Presentation, and Drafting
Mark F. Madura, DataCAD President and CEO
Most DataCAD users don’t get paid until their working drawings get done.  Therefore, many of DataCAD’s features are geared toward two-dimensional production drawing.  However, DataCAD includes functions for design and presentation that are often overlooked.  Normally, these tasks precede the documentation phase.  Using a small residential project as an example, Mark will demonstrate how he uses DataCAD’s functionality for design and presentation, as well as drafting.

Note: AIA Members & Massachusetts Registered Architects can earn
3 CEU credits for attending.
