6:30    Building an Airplane with DataCAD (& other custom work):

1.  Mike is building a full size (2-place, single engine) aluminum
aircraft from scratch (not a kit) in his basement. He relies heavily on
DataCAD to help produce full scale paper patterns to accurately lay out
and cut the aluminum materials.

2.  See some examples of DataCAD drawings used by fabricators to
create custom architectural elements (thanks to David Sargert for the
examples! http://www.sargertdesign.blogspot.com/).

7:30    BREAK:  Time to grab some refreshments, network with
colleagues, and share some tips and tricks.

7:45    DataCAD X3 Beta:
The first round of beta testing is underway.
We'll show some of the newest features, such as:
     - Layer Manager enhancements
     - View and Scale dependent symbol layers
     - XREFs linked to GTV's
     - GTV's linked to MSP details (yay!)
     - Sun/Shadow renderer

8:45 Time-permitting: Paragraph Text and MText:
How to create and edit DataCAD's Paragraph Text and MText. What are they good for, and
what are their strengths and weaknesses, and how do you edit them in
place. Some of the examples will include drawing notes for plans and
details, general notes, and on-drawing specifications.

DIRECTIONS:

You can get to Maynard from several different directions. The easiest
directions are from Rts 495 or 95.

From I-495:
Take I-495 to Exit 27 (Rt. 117) and head EAST, toward
Stow and Maynard. Go 5.9 miles. You will pass between two strip shopping
centers on your right and left in Stow. Take the 2nd LEFT, onto
Pompositticut Road (it shortly turns into Summer Street at the Maynard
town line).

From I-95:
ake I-95 to Exit 29 (Rt. 2), and head WEST. At the 2nd
traffic light Rt 2 takes a hard left turn. Stay in the left lane, and at
the next traffic light take a LEFT onto Rt. 126. You will drive right
past Walden Pond. At the next traffic light go RIGHT onto Rt. 117 west.
Follow that for several miles, into Maynard. At the first traffic light
in Maynard (intersection with Rt 27), continue straight ahead for
another couple of miles. Go straight through the next traffic light as
well (Mobil station on your right). You will pass momentarily into Stow.
Shortly after passing into Stow, take the first RIGHT onto Pompositticut
Road (it shortly turns into Summer Street at the Maynard town line).
 

Once on Pompositicut/Summer Street:  After about a mile, take a
RIGHT onto Howard Road, and continue straight ahead (it is a loop road,
so don't get confused by the Howard Rd sign on your left). Go up the
hill, then as you start down the hill you will see my beige house with a
maroon front door and shutters on the RIGHT. Park anywhere on the street.
