RoomSize Macro
Rev 3.1a
To INSTALL: Copy the file RS31a.DCX to your DCX folder under your main
DataCAD (or DataCAD Plus) path. Once in place, you should be able to invoke
it as any other macro from your Toolbox (or Macros) menu. This file (ROOMSIZE.HTM)
is also available to be read as README.TXT.
This macro makes it simple to label and size rooms in your plan. With these simple
instructions, you should have no problems getting it to function for you
Three entry modes:
- Rectangle -- this mode allows selecting 2 opposite corners
of a room from which the length and width are calculated. The area is
also calculate from these if you toggle that button on
- 3 point -- allows entry of angled rooms. It also
allows you to select which dimension you want listed first. This way
you can measure the short wall first even if it is the height dimension.
Since all dimensions are vector lengths, angled rooms can be measured
easily. Not as simple as rectangle, but simple just the same.
- Polyline -- This allows measurement of any shape room.
Because of the nature of a multi sided room, normal room dimensions
don't apply, so that option is not available.
Placing text
Now that the room has been defined, you must place the text on the
drawing. A temporary marker is added to the center of the room for your
use, and will be removed after a point is selected.
The function keys F2 and F3 are available for changing the angle of
the text. The angles are picked such that the text will align with the
room walls. The current room angle is displayed in the message line,
and the rectangle cursor is updated to show the current size of the text
that would be entered when the point is chosen. You can just press F2
or F3 a bunch of times until the angle is the one you want.
Well that is all there is too it. The macro is simple, and should
save you lots of time.
