From the Desk of Amanda Grace Shu

May 98

June: Here I am doing some quiet reading at my custom desk that my Dad made for me (instead of working like he should be.) I am now near 11 lbs. and my favorite foods are sweet potatoes, peaches, peas, and prunes (all "p" foods) as long as they are served with rice (cereal) of course! I'm usually in a pretty good mood -- but lately, I get a little cranky, when my teeth start pushing out. I'm looking forward to visiting all my relatives (and web friends) in the Pacific Northwest, when my parents take me out there for the first time in August.

August: My parents were worried about how I would do on the long plane ride to the West Coast, as well as the jet lag and all the new venues -- but of course, I did just great. They didn't know what a ham and flirt I am, but I love to make eye contact with new people (airline passengers, stewardesses, waitresses) and when they finally look at me, I just laugh and smile -- which of course makes them give me a big smile too!

. . . . .

I had lots of fun in both Seattle and Beaverton visiting all my relatives and many friends that had heard about me there. Even though I didn't have all my usual stuff, there was always something they could find to make do -- like this old washtub my Grandma Ruby and Grandpa Shu found for me to use as a bathtub. (They made sure not to throw me out with the bath water!) I got to also meet my 4 other "little" second cousins under one year old in Seattle, see my Auntie Gretchen play soccer, and go to the ocean at my parents' honeymoon site at Cannon Beach on my birthday.
