Found Stamp Postcard Swap

These pages show postcards made by members of the Carving Consortium mailing list. Each card features prints from objects that were not intended as stamps.

Several months ago the Carvers Consortium mailing list had a thread about stamping from things that hadn't been made as stamps. That reminded me of having corresponded for a while with someone who collected found rubber and stamped from it, and inspired me to issue the following call for a postcard swap:

Stamp or print with things that weren't intended to be stamps (and of course at least one carved stamp)

Type of swap: 6 for 6 postcard swap

Details: Show us what happened when you inked something that wasn't made to be a stamp. Composition counts, but neatness doesn't -- how neat can you be with a piece of old tire tread? The found stamp (s) can be background or the center of interest (the carved stamp (s) can be background or the center of interest). No commercial stamps at all. The found stamps don't have to be stamps, just some surface that you printed from. .

The images below are shown at 25% size. Click on any one to see it at full size and resolution and to read what the artist said about it (often including what the stamps were)

Thanks again to everyone who played.
