Art from Cyprus
Susan Houghton, Winfield, KS

Susan in Kansas has shown us some things that archaeologists found in Salaminia, Cyprus. She says, “And yes, these were published in a book so I cheated... but since the book came out in 1882, I figure not everyone has a copy.”

Susan used two different kinds of cardstock for this; some of the cards are on a tan parchment stock, and some on a somewhat heavier textured tan stock. Either way, the paper looks like the soil the artifacts might have been dug from. The scan does not do justice to the beautiful patina on one coin. Each card is stamped on both sides with the same artifacts, but the side not shown has Susan's e-mail address instead of the "Lost Art Salaminia Cyprus" label.
