Bicycle Mailbox
Melody Whittemore, State College PA

Melody writes,

Near the small village of Stormstown PA there sits by the road a rusty old American Flyer bicycle with a mailbox mounted on its handlebars. This is so typical of rural Pennsylvania folk art and a great opportunity for some carving fun.
This reminds me of two things: the lobster mailbox on Martha's Vineyard that I never got around to carving, and the computer game of delivering the mail by bicycle in the national postal museum in Helsinki, Finland.

Melody's card is in three layers, with maroon cardstock in back, black cardstock next, and three separate pieces of white paper, one saying "American Flyer", one saying "Mail Art", and the third with the image, on top. I can't be sure, but I think the bicycle image is an inkjet print of the original stamping.
