From The President

By Louise Pace

It has been four years since CSRF was established. Think of what we have accomplished so far! A membership of over 300, a newsletter, a networking list and we've exhibited at the last three Endocrinology Conferences.

This year CSRF will be exhibiting at:

  • American College of Physicians - American Society of Internal Medicine
  • College of American Psychologist and Psychiatrist
  • Endo 99

In November, a group of CSRF members met at UCSF in San Francisco. Dr. Charles Wilson was our guest speaker. This was the first meeting of members in our history.

We will be having another meeting in Washington D.C. on May 15th and also in Southern California in June. For more information contact Mary Brim, Membership Director.

Oh what publicity can do! There was an article in the June 30, 1998 Washington Post written by Dr. Jay Siwek from Georgetown University about Cushing's! I received over 60 phone calls in two days and am still receiving mail daily from the article.

I think back nine years and if I had seen an article about Cushing's, it could have saved 5 years of my life. Can you imagine the impact if there was an article about Cushing's in the newspaper in major cities across the world? Many people could be diagnosed sooner.

If any of you are willing to write a question for the medical column of your local newspaper or are willing to approach a newspaper about publishing your story, please do so and help us spread the word about this insidious disease and the CSRF.
