WELCOME MESSAGE

Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) is the nation's oldest federated philanthropy. Founded in 1895, CJP now supports over 80 agencies and programs in humanitarian services, Jewish education and social justice. Through its direct allocations and programs and its grants to national and international organizations, CJP provides food for the hungry, comfort to the frail elderly and opportunities for Jewish living and learning throughout the world. CJP is a leader in promoting an agenda of Torah and Tzedek--the striving for social justice informed by Jewish education and values.

To mobilize the financial and human resources needed for this ambitious program, CJP conducts an annual campaign supported by some 20,000 contributors in the greater Boston area. Over 1,000 volunteers bring the message of philanthropy to their neighbors, friends and business associates. CJP volunteers also serve on committees that review agencies and programs and determine the annual allocations made by CJP.

In addition to the annual campaign and allocation cycle, CJP raises and distributes long-term funds. Donors have contributed significant resources to fund initiatives in rescue and refuge, social justice, and Jewish education. For example, through the Myra and Robert Kraft Passport to Israel program, hundreds of Jewish students in the Boston area will have a chance to visit Israel and strengthen their ties to world Jewry.
