Houghton
Mifflin's Education Place is a great place for all teachers
and parents to take children (and themselves) to for links,
projects, games for all subject areas. The Education Center has
three subject categories, the Math Center, Reading/Language Arts
Center, and the Social Studies Center. Each subject area has
something educational and entertaining for kids.
Landmarks for
Schools contains link farms for high-quality education
resources on a wide subject base, from environment to language,
geography, government. Bullets guide you to the major areas of the
sites, or try the CyberSchool House with more links from "3D"
image maps. Fun but a little disorienting. these resources range
from full text archives of historic documents, to instructional
email projects, to convenient access to the latest in educational
research.
An electronic catalogue of internet resourses designed exclusively
for k-12 students. The links are divided into three broad
categories of school subjects (arts, sciences, social studies) and
one miscellaneous category of reference material and fun stuff.
Each category is further subdivided into headings that match
school subject names (physics, literature, mathematics, etc.) The
site also provides a list of k-12 schools on the net.

Learning Resources and
Technology is a Division of the Program Branch of the Nova
Scotia Department of Education and Culture . This Division
(formerly called Education Media Services) is responsible for
providing centrally those resources and services which are more
economical and efficient than maintaining them at the district or
local level. The site contains a Technology Demonstration Centre,
Classroom Education Media Library, Software Evaluation Reports,
Curriculum Related Links & Strategies, LRT-Update List
Service, and Technology Recycling Program.
This site is very useful in obtaining resources that can be
implemented into any classroom. It is not subject specific so it
can be of use in all areas. There are also links to Canada's
SchoolNet, both in English and French, and the Nova Scotia Public
Library where resources can be obtained.
The software reviews are most useful in that they suggest material
based on the grading system of recommended, with hesitation, and
not recommended. With such an assessment proceedure in place you
can be assured that choosing quality materials will be easy.
An Education
Bulletin Board where people can join in on the education
discussion.

The Student Center. The
Student Home Page Directory is a useful resource and is easy to
use. Teen-agers will find both fun and educational. The image map
leads the user to 4 different areas: Student Hub, Info, Today's
News, and Entertainment. There are links to information about
Colleges, Financial Aid, AIDS and HIV, today's news and weather,
games, music and more. What seems very successful is the Student
Hub, which lists hundreds of other teenagerswho are interesting in
being "Cyberpals". There's also a student chat room and discussion
newsgroup links.

Parents
and Children Together Online. This online Ezine offers many
hours of interactive learning adventures for parents and children
to share together. The Home Page of this site guides the user to a
well-organized Table of Contents for either Issue 1 or 2, both
quality publications. There are 4-5 stories in each of the 2 grade
groups: Pre-3 and 4-6. In addition to these illustrated stories,
there are "Articles" of interest to kids, interactive stories that
children can contribute to, articles for parents, reviews of
children's books, a discussion area, links to other sites, and
book recommendations. The stories and writing are interesting and
fun, and some are very well illustrated. This site is a great way
to get children reading and learning about the internet all at
once.

cyberspace with the vision of harnessing the tools of our
technological age or the purpose of educating the next generation.
While the focus of Eagle Academy is on the support of parents who
choose to utilize home schooling as the method of education for
their children, its courses and services are available to anyone
wishing quality educational materials. The innovation of Eagle's
approach was recognized nationally when it was awarded the grand
prize in Time Magazine/AT&T's 1995 K-12 Internet Contest. The
curriculum and services offered help students meet high academic
standards, integrates the resources of the National Information
