GOALS OF MICRO GARDENING
- The student will perform individual experiments under
controlled conditions and observe seed germination and the effects
of varying environment upon plant growth.
- The student will utilize scientific methods throughout their
investigations. They will perform the experiments, observe the
results, record data, and reach conclusions based on their data.
- Since the development of a technical vocabulary is an
important part of all science studies, basic terminology for plant
and seed structure are introduced whenever appropriate.
OBJECTIVES OF MICRO GARDENING
The student will:
- Learn what environmental conditions are required for plant
germination and growth.
- Describe the sequence of events in seed germination.
- Compare the appearance of seedlings grown with and without
light.
- Describe the effect of light upon the direction of seedling
growth.
- Compare the growth of plants with and without essential
minerals.
- Chart the growth of plants.
- Maintain narrative observations and descriptions of each
plant.
