KT 1054
INCLINED PLANE AND
WORKS
(Grades six through eight)
GOALS OF INCLINED PLANE AND WORKS
The student will:
- Confront the concept of energy conversion and will be able to
utilize the formula work = force x distance in measuring the work
output of experiments.
- Conduct several experiments and collect data to reinforce the
concepts introduced in the inclined plane instruction guide.
OBJECTIVES OF INCLINED PLANE AND
WORKS
The student will:
- Be able to verbalize in his or her own words that notion that
energy is stored up power and can cause a force.
- Be able to verbalize in his or her own words that energy can
be converted to different forms.
- Be able to define work as the result of energy which creates a
force that causes something to move and become proficient in
working with the formula work = force x distance.
- Conduct experiments and collect data to determine the force
necessary to move a cart, with varied weights, on a flat surface.
- Conduct experiments and collect date to measure the force
necessary to move a cart, with varied weights, up an inclined
planes of varied heights and degrees of altitude.
