KT 1046
CHEMICAL REACTION
(Grades six through eight)

GOALS OF CHEMICAL REACTION
- To provide the student with personal observations of chemical
reactions.
- Furnish repeated experimental reinforcement of varied chemical
reactions with blueprint paper.
- Explore the concept of scientific variables.
OBJECTIVES OF CHEMICAL REACTION
The student will:
- Define in his or her own words the terms element, compound,
chemical reaction, variable, dependent variable, independent
variable, and oxidation.
- Conduct a series of experiments with blueprint paper to
observe the chemical reaction of light and blueprint paper.
- Determine the dependent and independent variables in each of
the series of experiments.
- Tabulate the results of each experiment on the charts
provided.
- Reach conclusions regarding the effects of the variables in
each of the series of experiments.
- Devise and complete original experiments using the kit
experiments as a model.
