KT 1012
INVESTIGATING
CONDUCTIVITY
(Grades six and up)
GOALS OF INVESTIGATING CONDUCTIVITY
- The child will discover how an electric current follows a path
from a power source to a light bulb and return to the power source
effecting an electric circuit.
- The child will discover the principles of electrical
conductivity.
OBJECTIVES OF INVESTIGATING
CONDUCTIVITY
The child will:
- Explore relationships among a battery, copper wires and light
bulbs.
- Be able to explain in his or her own words the difference
between Direct Current and Alternating Current.
- Be able to explain in his or her own words that an ampere or
amp is a unit measure of electricity.
- Measure in amps, using the milliammeter, the electrical output
of the battery used in the milliammeter.
- Discover and measure with the milliammeter the degree of
electrical conductivity of various solids and liquids found in the
child's environment.
