DYNAMICS CART
(Grades 6 and up)
GOALS OF DYNAMICS CART
- The child will discover how a force can create movement and
that movement can produce work. The child will learn the equation
for speed using distance and time and learn how to solve for the
unknown in the equation.
- The child will be exposed to selected strategies for finding
solutions for jobs requiring movement of materials.
OBJECTIVES OF DYNAMICS CART
The child will:
- Discover the power inherent in a spring and that the amount of
power increases as the spring becomes more taut.
- Measure the distance traveled by two stationery carts that are
impacted by the force of a released spring.
- Experiment with the carts loaded with variable weight and
measure the distance traveled by the carts after they have been
impacted by the force of a released spring.
- Learn the equation for speed in relation to distance and time
and use the equation in solving for the speed of the carts using a
stopwatch
