In the spring of 1998, landscape artist Jim Baker and a group of volunteers created a "walk-through" rock garden for our outdoor classroom/ nature center. Volunteers included parent Kevin Murphy, former high school teacher Tony Donatelli, John Clarke, Johl DeLorey, and Bruce Dean. In the fall of 1998 high school teacher Dave Warden and his students helped care for this space as part of their horticulture class. Transportation from the high school to the outdoor classroom behind Blanchard Early Childhood Center was made possible through a Massachusetts Department of Education Learn and Serve Grant.

Luke, Jim's son, tests out the "walk-through ability" during construction.

Uncle Tony demonstrates the ancient craft of stone building.
