E&D Uxbridge Youth Center Museum
Visit a wonderful hands-on museum in the historic Bernat Mill along the Mumford River.
Located on the second floor of the Uxbridge Youth
Center, it
provides a central interpretive site between Worcester and Providence.
The E&D Youth Center Museum features the arts, interpretive sciences,
local and regional history in a setting that invites exploration, hands-on
discovery, and community service learning. Science teacher Tony Niro of
the Milford Public Schools developed many exhibits.
High School students create and maintain exhibits, work as Explainers to assist visitors, and staff the museum, along with a museum supervisor. The "state model" Youth Center was established by the Uxbridge Police Department in 1994. The Uxbridge Public Schools recognized the importance of this community center and has collaborated as a partner since 1995.
