A Fifteen Year Partnership with Parents and Community Volunteers

Since 1982 parents and community members have partnered with teachers, administrators children, staff and other town departments to create the North Uxbridge Community Playground. Local businesses have also played a key role in construction and support. This pre-school play yard has become a nature center and outdoor classroom for grades K - 12 and serves the community year round. The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) sponsors an annual playground workday to take care of everything and add something new and special. This ongoing commitment has been at the heart of the project and keeps it alive and growing.

Former superintendent Michael B. Ronan was an important supporter and volunteer every year from 1982 - 1986.

Many parents including Joan Greenwood help out year after year.

Joan's husband Frank has donated his professional carpentry skills many days.

Lisa Ozzella is the most recent of many hard working and community-minded PAC playground project leaders.

Children at the workday create a rock border around the freshly planted butterfly garden.
