PROJECT OPTIONS

Art History Related:

 

 

  1. Louise Nevelson  Assemblage Box

 

Collect found objects that can be recycled. Place the all in a shallow box with shadow and shape as your main focus.  Spray paint (outside) everything black or one color.

 

  1. Andy Warhol ­ simplified portrait repetition

 

Reduce 1 or 2  portraits to simplified shapes.  Create a pattern of color and abstract shape by repeating the portraits and varying the colors.

 

  1. Roy Lichtenstein

 

Cartoon Enlargement into dot matrix.  With an original cartoon or with one of your favorites, do a large painting translating the shapes into dots and line only with simple bold colors.

 

  1. Bridget Riley

Optical design and moiré pattern. Create a dynamic design varying the thickness and direction of repeated lines into an optical design. Use complimentary colors to complete. 

Doors of Kitaoka (optical illusions found at The Exploratorium that come alive)

 

  1. After Leslie Gabosh ­ Still life on window sill with fantasy landscape.

    2. Carefully render a window with an arranged still live.  Create a contrasting mysterious landscape out the window.

     Juxtaposition of common objects in confined room space

    Enlarge common related objects and confine them in a room. Walls of the room may become water, sky, wood, or whatever else you imagine.

     

     

    1. Jess (San Francisco artist) Narkissos

    Create a black and white collage of images. Translate it carefully into a pencil drawing.

     

    1. Rube Goldberg Machine
