Client: Sterling Country Club
MAN (distractedly, to himself): No,
can't do it there...no, we went there two years ago, we're still paying for that
one...
WOMAN: Jerry, what are you doing?
MAN: Huh? Oh, hi hon, it's...I'm
in charge of organizing our annual business plan meeting this year, and I am having
just the worst time trying to find a place for it. (To himself) Hey, maybe we could
do it outdoors as a picnic! No, come on, stupid idea. How about...
WOMAN:
Jerry, what about the Sterling Country Club? You remember, Sara Monroe had that beautiful
wedding there.
MAN: Marion, everybody knows that Sterling does beautiful weddings.
The food is beautiful, the service is beautiful, weddings...should be beautiful.
But this...is business. B...i...s...no, wait a minute, that's not right, is it?
WOMAN
(breaking in): Jerry, come on. They have three function rooms, three different sizes.
Professional staff, convenient location, great views of that fabulous golf course.
MAN
(on top of her lines): Well, yeah, that's right, sure, I guess so, etc.
WOMAN:
And you know something else? The prices are very competitive.
(pause)
So
what do you think? Sterling Country Club for your meeting is a pretty good idea,
huh?
MAN: Hmmm. Not bad, Marion. Not bad at all.
WOMAN: So...do I get
that promotion?
MAN: I might consider a little bonus this year. Let's talk
about it at your next performance review. Come on, Marion, put that down, I was just
kidding, come on, stop that now (fading)
