Design and the Technical Writer

Our assignment was to discover and convey "Ten Design Elements which are essential for Effective Technical Writing." We were also to give a 10 minute presentation of any aspect of our paper or research.

Teach Yourself Basic HTML (Part 1Part 2)

This paper was written for one of the required courses for UMass Lowell's Certificate in Technical writing, Software Writing. (42-402-001) which I took as an independent study. The project was to write an HTML manual. As part of the project, I had to turn in a schedule and a document plan for the manual and to meet this schedule and use the document plan. In addition, I developed a tutorial for each chapter to highlight the tags learned.

Quilting Patterns

These quilting block instructions are part of an ongoing project to keep my writing skills up to date.

That's Cats

These directions were written for a quilting list I am on. We had a block swap and we wanted to exchange pieced blocks of cats. I had found a cat block that I liked but it was not 12-1/2 inches square, so I adapted it.

Cute Facing Mice

These directions are for "chain piecing" a small 2 inch by 6 inch mouse block which appeared in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine as a paperpieced block. These mice blocks can be used as sashing for the cat block, above.

Don't Worry Be Scrappy, Part 1

Part 1 of how to make this quilt, made up of Buzz Saw blocks, details how to make multiple half-square triangle units.
