zcat

zcat makes the compress or uncompress utilities write to the standard
output; no files are changed.  zcat's nondestructive behavior is useful 
for reviewing the content of a large, compressed file without having to
expand it to its original size, saving diskspace usage.

   world%  zcat filename.Z 

This command is more useful if its output is directed through the more
program, so you may review its contents one page at a time:

   world%  zcat filename.Z | more

Alternatively, you could direct the output to a download command.
