uuconvert Top Level
uuconvert
Use the uuconvert command to reconstitue uuencoded, multi-part files.
Uuconvert takes one or more uuencoded files, strips any mail headers
and trailers, and reconstructs the original file under the name specified
in the standard uuencode BEGIN line contained within uuencoded files.
If no file names are specified then uuconvert will read its standard
input, so the following two examples are equivalent:
uuconvert file1 file2 file3
cat file1 file2 file3 | uuconvert
Uuconvert has no knowledge of the order files should be reconstituted
in (e.g. doesn't attempt to read Subject: information like Part
2/37). However, uuconvert can break out multiple mail or usenet
messages saved to one file (in the order they are supposed to be
reconstituted.) Usenet news and mail readers generally append
successive messages to the same file so if you save them in the order
of their parts then this should work with uuconvert.
