mesg Beginner Help

You can restrict the ability of unwanted broadcast messages from
interrupting your current login session by using the "mesg" command.
Programs such as talk, msend, and wall are used to broadcast
information directly onto your screen, over any process you may have
running. Unwanted broadcasts can at times be distracting, and at
other times can impact your work efforts in an annoying way. To
restrict unwanted broadcasts in your current session, type:

        world% mesg n

And to remove this broadcast restriction, type:

        world% mesg y

To determine what the current state of the mesg program is for your
session, type:

        world% mesg
        is y

Once you have logged out, the mesg program automatically resets to
"y" for future login sessions. If you would like more information
about changing the mesg program default to "n", please contact The
World's staff.
