I met a guy who kept on using the word "challenge" to describe what I
would normally refer to as "problem." Every time I tried to comiserate
with what seemed to me like a horror story of organizational abuse, he'd
just stop me cold with an expression like, "there's a REAL challenge."
This is a kind of jargon, if you'll excuse the expression, is it not?
Using the word "challenges" to describe things like hurt and pain and
unfairness.
I think it's what we might call a "healing jargon" (a "healgon").
Because, darn it, I tried it, and gosh if I didn't start feeling better
about just about everything, without undue risk of rational rigor, using
the word "challenge" as an inner jargon to heal my vision of the world.
