Reception

The reception will be held at Le Meridien Cambridge, formerly the Hotel@MIT, formerly the University Park Hotel,* immediately following the ceremony (with enough time to allow everyone to travel the half-mile).

The hotel is located at 20 Sidney Street in Cambridge.

What to Expect: Food and Drink

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour in (weather permitting) the roof garden on the third floor just outside the ballroom. Once Justin and Erica arrive, we will take advantage of the garden setting for some additional photographs at this time, as well as mingle and enjoy the company of our guests.

Le Meridien is not a kosher facility. However, because of the Jewish dietary laws that prohibit combining meat and dairy in the same meal, we have planned a dairy and fish menu for the evening. We know that several of our guests will be more comfortable with certified kosher meals; for those who have let us know with their RSVP, the hotel will arrange with Andrew's to provide these.

What to Expect: The Celebration

One of the exciting Jewish wedding traditions that will be new to many of our guests is the mandate of mesameach chatan v'kallah: gladdening the bridal couple. Specifically, at some point during the dancing of the hora, we will pull up chairs onto the dance floor -- not the same as being lifted on chairs, though that happens also -- and it will be our guests' turn to regale us. How? Silly hats, kick lines... anything goes! It's wonderfully spontaneous, so you don't have to plan ahead (unless, say, you need to remember to bring your juggling rubber chickens).

* Ask us about the changes sometime, when we're not looking tired.
