The Hebrew alphabet -- including calligraphy and other handcrafted Judaica. Theater: After playing Eleanor in The Lion in Winter in Davis Square, Somerville, in July 2004, I had the privilege of playing Sally in a Theatre@First production of Lanford Wilson's Talley's Folly (winner of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Drama) in February 2005. Subsequent productions: Chorus, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Nov. 11-19, 2005; Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, The Margaret Ghost by Carole Braverman, November 2006. My synagogue: Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge, where I am no longer First Vice-President but still serve on the Board, chair the 20s & 30s programming committee, gabbai the Friday night minyan, and help chant the Torah reading on a regular basis. * But if you know me from before 1990 or so, perhaps you are now saying to yourself, "Since when is she Jewish?"Singing (mezzo-soprano). Since Fall 1999, I've done a ton of cool stuff with the MIT Gilbert & Sullivan Players. I also perform Jewish a cappella around the Boston area with Honorable Menschen. Reading. (Amazon.com wish list) Games and puzzles: I currently play Kingdom of Loathing (online) and Animal Crossing (Nintendo GameCube). Crosswords are a favorite diversion in our house. My preferred board games are Encore and Apples to Apples. |

I was born October 6, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio. Most of my growing-up life was spent in Valparaiso, Indiana (a medium-sized suburb about an hour outside of Chicago; scenic photos here and here). I moved to the Boston area in August of 1989 to attend Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., where I majored in English and dabbled in languages and other fun stuff. I continued to live in Waltham for a couple of years, and then in May 1996 I moved up in the world to Cambridge, on Prospect Street near vibrant (albeit gentrifying) Central Square. In July 2006, after 10 years in Cambridge, I moved a mile up the street to Union Square, Somerville. I have one brother (Rick), one sister-in-law (Lesley), and a beautiful niece, Eva Astrid Schultz, born May 11, 1998. I self-assess as an ISFJ, although with strong INFJ overtones. |

CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering) explains why supermarket purchase-tracking "savings" cards are EVIL. I am a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood. Although I was for many years proudly car-free and a charter member of Zipcar (an innovative car-sharing service in metro Boston), I now drive a cute green 2001 Toyota Echo. As anyone who's been to my house knows, I am a big fan of Peanuts. The very pleasant RealSimple Magazine actually has a useful website with monthly content updates. The Internet Movie Database is the preeminent example of "How did we ever live before the Web?" |
