bread, sliced OR
rice, cooked
eggs
milk OR wine
parmesan cheese, grated

Since the amount of fondue left over after a good fondue party is variable, quantities given here are very approximate.  Samples of quantitites are shown in parentheses for about 2 cups of left over fondue.

Oil or butter a shallow baking dish. Put a layer of this sliced bread (1/4" thick slices) or the same thickness of cooked rice at the bottom of the dish.  Sprinkle with (one cup) of  diced cold fondue. Reserve any liquid in the bottom of the fondue pot.  Add another layer of bread or rice and a second layer of diced fondue. Mix beaten eggs (4) with a an equal volume of a mixture of reserved liquid, if any, milk or white wine (and a little heavy cream). Pour over bread and fondue in dish - the upper later of bread should be half covered.   Mix (one cup each) grated parmesan and fine bread crumbs. Spread on dish as a top layer.  Dot with butter.  Bake in a 350 degree oven for about an hour until the center is moist but not wet and the top is browned.  Serve with a green salad.
