The freezing conditions were reported from near Hartford and Springfield to just south of Worcester to near beverly and to the north and west. Temperatures were mainly in the 30s, with some upper 20s in south central New Hampshire, ranging to the lower 40s on the Cape and islands. Waves of low pressure will move along the stationary front south of New England today. Periods of heavy precipitation is possible. For areas north of the Massachusetts turnpike, a mixture of rain, freezing rain and sleet will continue through the day, especially across southern New Hampshire. Temperatures will slowly increase, but will remain close to freezing across southern New Hampshire, ranging to the mid and upper 40s on the south coast. As the final low moves east across southern New England tonight, any leftover rain or mixed precipitation will change over to snow showers before ending. Some precipitation will linger through most of the night across eastern areas. Colder air will filter into the region behind the low, as temperatures fall to the 20s for northern and western Massachusetts into southern New Hampshire, ranging to the mid 30s on the south coast. Skies will become partly cloudy on Tuesday, but it will be blustery and cold. Daytime highs will not recover much from tonights lows, with readings only reaching the upper 20s in southern New Hampshire and the higher terrain of central and western Massachusetts, to around 40° on the Cape and islands.
