=== NWS Regional Summary - 414 AM EST MON JAN 1 2007 ===
The first morning of 2007 featured cloudy skies and cool temperatures across
southern New England. Rain was overspreading the region from west to east
during the predawn hours. Freezing rain was occurring in southern New
Hampshire and northern Massachusetts, mainly north of the Mass Pike and west
of Interstate 495. Icy spots can be expected here through 7 am. By 9 am
temperatures should be above freezing throughout the region, ending the risk
of freezing rain. Low pressure is expected to track across the southern New
England coast today, resulting in periods of heavy rain and possibly areas of
urban and poor drainage flooding, as rainfall totals approach or exceed 1" by
this evening. Dry weather will return tonight as the attending cold front
moves across the region, ushering in cooler weather along with windy
conditions Tue. Dry weather and above normal temperatures are expected Tuesday
through Thursday. By Friday, another soaking rain may impact southern New
England, as low pressure currently over California moves into the Gulf of
mexico, then tracking northeast toward New England.
