The rain was falling heavy at times early this morning, especially along the coastal plain. Early morning temperatures were between 55 and 60°. Northeast winds were beginning to increase along the coast at speeds of 15 to 25 mph. A slow moving low pressure system south of Long Island will make for a miserable early June day. Rain will fall heavy at times, particularly across southeast New Hampshire, eastern Massachusetts, as well as Rhode Island where a flood watch is posted through the evening. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4" are expected with locally higher amounts in the watch area. The flood watch is posted for the potential of some urban, as well as small stream and river flooding. In addition, isolated thunderstorms may develop today particularly along the south coast. Highs will remain nearly steady in the mid 50s, to lower 60s and winds will gust between 30 and 40 mph along the coast. Rain is expected to continue tonight with low temperatures between 50 and 55. The rain will taper off to showers on Thursday, but it will remain cloudy and unseasonably cool. High temperatures will be between 60 and 65.
