Highest rainfall amounts were generally over coastal sections of New Hampshire and southwest Maine where storm totals ranged fron 1 to 2". Coastal Cumberland county in Maine posted the highest accumulations with the Portland area recording over 3" of rain in the past 24 to 36 hours. Temperatures overnight were relatively mild as readings actually rose a couple of degrees in most locations. At 5 am temperatures were between 45 and 50° throughout the area. Heaviest rainfall this morning has shifted into the Connecticut valley but showers and areas of drizzle were widespread across the region. Some showers were producing brief heavy downpours as they move northwest across the area. Low clouds, showers and a raw northeast wind will persist throughout the day across the region as low pressure remains nearly stationary over the western Atlantic. Temperatures will show little if any change during the day with readings only in the upper 40s to lower 50s. === The weather observed at WHITEFIELD, NH at 08:52 AM EDT was: === The skies were cloudy.
