An area of heavy rain moved across the region after midnight and left another half-inch to inch of water, in addition to what fell Thursday and Friday. Skies were foggy, including areas of dense fog on Nantucket. Temperatures early in the morning were in the 50s. A front over the waters south of New England will move north to the coast this morning, and may move ashore into southern Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. Meanwhile, a stream of warm very moist air continues to feed up the coast and over the top of this front. As this air moves over the front it is generating rain, with occasional bursts of heavy downpours. This will continue through the day today with additional rainfall of 1 to 3". Most areas will remain in a cool northeast wind which will keep temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s. The islands and parts of the south coast may get far enough south of the front to sample temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. An areas of low pressure moving up the front will move east of New England tonight. This will pull the front and the flow of moist air off to the east. So the rain will taper off to a few showers by Sunday. There will still be plenty of clouds and readings in the 60s, but with a clearing trend later in the day and Sunday night. High pressure will bring drier weather for the early week with daytime temperatures expected to return into the 70s. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EDT was: === The weather reported was moderate rain and fog.
