But as the snow moved east, it ran into some very dry air, which caused a lot of potential snow to evaporate before it reached the ground. As a result, the snow arrived in eastern Massachusetts around the time of the morning rush hour, and was light everywhere except along parts of the south coast. Temperatures around the region ranged from the teens to the mid 20s. Low pressure moving up the coast was 160 miles south of Nantucket early this morning, farther south than originally expected. This storm will continue to move northeast, pulling away from New England during the morning. Any lingering snow will taper off, leaving us just a few scattered snow showers during the day. With lots of clouds overhead and cold air at the ground, temperatures will spend much of the day in the 20s. Skies will partially clear tonight as drier air moves in. Another storm, this one parked over Newfoundland, will actually back up during the next couple of days, eventually reaching the state of Maine on Saturday. This storm will keep a mixed bag of clouds over our area Thursday through Saturday, and it will also keep us in the cold air with temperatures remaining below freezing through the period. The circulation around the storm will also act as a brick wall in the atmosphere, pushing any other storms well to our south away from New England. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 28-Jan-2004 07:21 EST === 7am: 28006kt 3sm -sn Br Ovc015; Tempo 7-10am: 1sm -sn Br Ovc007 10am: 30007kt 5sm -shsn Br Ovc025 2pm: 30014g24kt P6sm Ovc035; Tempo 2-5pm: 4sm -shsn Ovc025 10pm: 29017kt P6sm Bkn070 2am: 28017kt P6sm Sct070
