But those winds did the job of transporting in a fresh supply of arctic air. The wind also combined with the cold air to create hazardous wind chills during the night in many parts of southern New England. Early morning temperatures in southern New England were 7 below zero in the cold spots and around 7 above zero in the warm spots. Wind chills across southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts were generally 15 to 20 below zero. In Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southeast Massachusetts the wind chill was 10 to 15 below zero. Today will be a fair but cold day. High pressure building in from Canada will provide bright sunshine, and the sunshine will push temperatures to top out between 10 and 20 by the afternoon. The fair weather will continue tonight with temperatures quickly falling back into the single numbers and below zero again. Clouds will be on the increase overnight, with skies getting even cloudier on Monday. But the weather will remain dry through Monday as high pressure lingers just to the north of our area. A storm developing over the southern great plains will redevelop along the mid Atlantic coast Tuesday, then move south of New England Tuesday night and Wednesday. This storm has the potential to bring several inches of snow to southern New England Tuesday and Wednesday, with a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain possible along the south coast. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 25-Jan-2004 06:25 EST === 7am: 29014kt P6sm Skc 6pm: 30007kt P6sm Sct200 4am: 35008kt P6sm Bkn200
