At 4 am, temperatures had fallen into the teens, to near 10 in the normally colder valleys of northwest Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Brisk winds from the northwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph were observed across the exposed higher terrain and along the immediate coast. In the more protected interior valleys, however, wind speeds were considerably less at 5 to 10 mph. Sunny skies are expected today with high temperatures in the lower to mid 20s. Northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph will make the air feel closer to around 10°, however, in most locations. Tonight will start with mostly clear skies, but clouds will increase from northwest to southeast late at night. Temperatures will drop to between 10 and 15 across southern New England tonight. Most locations will experience a west wind near or slightly above 10 mph. An arctic cold front will move across the region on Thursday and produce mostly cloudy skies and scattered snow showers. Some locations may experience a heavy snow squall late Thursday morning or Thursday afternoon. High temperatures will range from the mid 20s across southwest New Hampshire and northwest Massachusetts to the mid 30s across Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. The wind will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph, but with gusts between 30 and 40 mph possible along the south coast and in the vicinity of any heavier snow squalls. Behind the front, reinforcing arctic air will keep temperatures on the cold side for the rest of the week, into the weekend. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 21-Jan-2004 06:30 EST === 7am: 30014g24kt P6sm Sct090; Tempo 7-11am: Bkn090 2pm: 30009kt P6sm Sct200 0am: 28006kt P6sm Bkn080 5am: 24010kt P6sm Bkn060
