Temperatures during the predawn hours were mainly in the teens, with single digits at Orange Massachusetts and Keene New Hampshire. In the metropolitan areas of Boston, Providence and Hartford, temperatures were in the lower 20s. Two areas of low pressure will approach southern New England today. Weak low pressure over the Great Lakes will move east, while another low over the southeast states moves into the Atlantic. Clouds from both of these systems will overspread the region today, and become overcast occasionally this afternoon. Precipitation is not expected from either system, thus dry conditions are in the forecast through tonight. A broad area of high pressure will build into the Tennessee valley Friday and Saturday, providing the region with a dry and milder west to southwest wind flow. However, the slightly above average temperatures will come to an abrupt end Sunday, as an arctic front crosses southern New England. Temperatures Sunday will likely hold in the teens, along with a bitterly cold and gusty north wind. The very cold weather will linger into early next week. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 12-Feb-2004 06:26 EST === 7am: 26012kt P6sm Sct100 Bkn250 9am: 24013kt P6sm Bkn100 2pm: 23010kt P6sm Sct020 Bkn050 8pm: 24008kt P6sm Bkn025 2am: 26012kt P6sm Skc
