Strong low pressure north of Newfoundland combined with high pressure over Ontario, will funnel unusually frigid air southward into New England today and into at least Saturday. In addition, a gusty northwest wind today, followed by a brisk northerly wind Friday and Saturday, will generate bitterly cold wind chills through Saturday. By later Sunday, the Canadian high will slip southward to the mid Atlantic states.
