Most of the clouds lingered across inland areas with isolated flurries near the Berkshires at 5 am. Temperatures were mainly in the mid to upper 20s inland, ranging to the lower to mid 30s on Cape Cod and the islands. The area of low pressure that brought the mixed bag of precipitation across New England yesterday will move east across the Canadian Maritimes today. A large area of high pressure will bring colder air, with temperatures running several degrees below normal for early January. The high pressure will remain across New England through the work week, except for another cold front pushing through on Wednesday which will bring scattered snow showers. This will usher in arctic air with temperatures tumbling and blustery northwest winds for Wednesday night. Overnight lows Wednesday will drop to the single digits inland, with a few readings below zero, to the teens along the coast. This bitter cold air will remain across the area through the upcoming weekend. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were mostly clear.
