Low pressure areas continue to move across the region. The last of these low pressure centers will move across the Ohio valley this evening then move along the New England south coast tonight. Colder air will gradually filter down over the area today and tonight, changing the rain to snow sleet and freezing rain this evening north of the Massachusetts turnpike. This colder air will continue to overspread southeastern areas overnight. However the back edge of the precipitation will be racing east Monday morning, at about the same time the colder air moves in. The freezing rain could accumulate on trees and power lines in some areas, while the snow and sleet could accumulate 1 to 3" in the hills. Travel tonight and Monday morning will be hampered by this wintery weather. More seasonable winter weather will be over the region late Monday and on Tuesday before a blast of arctic air moves into the area on Wednesday, heralded by a few snow squalls and blustery winds. This bitter cold air will be with us through next weekend. === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 4-Jan-2004 06:39 EST === 7am: 28007kt P6sm Bkn045 Ovc100 9am: 34006kt P6sm Ovc070; Tempo 12-4pm: 5sm -ra Ovc035 4pm: 01008kt 5sm -rasn Br Ovc018 10pm: 03008kt 3sm -pl Br Ovc008
